Torso is a 2-member band, both Bostonians who began making new music in 2004. This is their first album, seven songs all of which began life as an improvisational piece on a hard drive. Torso’s music can only be described as smooth; a wonderful combination of guitar, trumpet and bass. This CD is definitely something that you can sit in the bar and lounge to for hours on end, relaxing in the harmonies of nu jazz. In fact, Torso’s music is somewhat like Miles Davis’, except Miles Davis plays to a faster tempo. Percolatin’ with Lucifer is an unusual title, hinting to the roots of jazz as the music of the devil, and here filtered with the devil. So get onto your armchair, dim the lights, and indulge your senses with a little alcohol, and a little Torso. After all, there’s nothing more sinful than a little aural pleasure.
