The JOHN SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION Plastic Fang

Fang jettisons all the experimental flavor of Acme, and the searing itchiness that was Now I Got Worry, for no-frills party music jams that will dissappoint those who want JSBX to keep stretching boundaries. Even the whoops and hollers and “Blues Explosions!” are held to a minimum, instead theres almost a fifties pop sensibility at work here.

Talk about macaroni and mashed potatoes finds its way behind the tightly wound rhythms of Simmons and Bauer, reminding all that no matter how far it seemed they had been pushing the limits musically, the theme of every song was basically, “Oh Yeah!,” or “Come On.” Those critical about Plastic Fang would do well to get to the roots of the JSBX, they have, knocking out another set of urban blues jams for ya.
