For thirty odd years now Alan Vega and Martyn Rev have been grooving the same analog synth and Elvis homemade Karaoke show that has been felt influentially through the early New Wave of Soft Cell and Depeche Mode, to Nick Cave, Spiritualized, and early beatbox rapping in New York. This classic and highly influential eponymous second LP by Suicide has been re-mastered for the hard of hearing and shows Vega in particular starting to do his improv thing, which eventually would have him smashing the microphone into his bleeding head. It also a never released second CD featuring their funky first rehearsal tapes (Think David Bowie’s 1966 madness called ‘Laughing Gnome’). Awesome to imagine these two homeless poets writing and playing freaky tunes like Be My Dream and C’mon Babe in the early 70’s. Produced by Ric Ocasek.
