Boasting help from guitar whiz James Plotkin (Old, Flux) and noise guru Bill Yurkiewicz (Exit 13, Namanax), bassist/programmer Kipp Johnson has excelled in weaving together threads of ethereal ambient, bass beat dub, and intriguing samples for seven tracks of pure aural contemplation on this record.
The opener "Messianic Slur 1" lays calming Adrian Belew-like guitar chords in watery samples, soothing reverb/echo effects, and an unobtrusive drum machine. The sensual "In Heaven For Eternity" dabs its drive train with the sampled grease of religious philosophies. "Subjugation" is mildly industrial with its machinery-like loops and wild Indian/Oriental undertones.
"Malignant Soul Punisher 2" drags its dark chords across a windy electronic asphalt, while the techno percussion of "Whipspawn 2" complements its shifting Fripp-esque soundscapes. "Sunyata" checks in last as the most melodic. Demanding your full attention, this is yet another quality Release product that you just hit play and fall into.
