With their trademark smooth melodies and sophisticated trip-hop stylings, Lamb’s fourth release is well-named: it’s a combination of the melancholy and the pretty all wrapped up in catchy, tranquil pop. It’s music to get wistful to, and it’s a sweet trip on the way. The haunting opener bursts in then the album takes a different twist, turning down alleys of melodious trip-hop and a stretch of soft, sweet music in the instrumental “Angelica,” and the sweet violin led “Learn”. This electronica trip-hop CD has edges lined with classical touches, giving a timeless quality to the smooth, panoramic electronic sounds. Andy Barlow does a fantastic job molding the beats, blips and sweeps of sound into some of the best trip-hop around.
