In the faceless world of dance music, Josh Wink is one of only a very few bonafide superstars. However, there is a lot more to this dread-locked, vegetarian from Philadelphia, U. S. A. than the huge acid-breakbeat single. “Higher State of Consciousness” that took him into the UK top ten and that first brought him into the public eye. As his first album “Left Above the Clouds” would testify Josh was equally adept at creating cutting-edge trip-hop, drum’n’bass and ambient sound-scapes, even having the audacity to include spoken-word passages.
Since then, Josh Wink has continued to grow in stature with singles such as “I’m ready” (released under the pseudonym Size 9), “Don’t laugh” and “Are you there” culminating with his ground-breaking second album “Herehear” released on his own “Ovum” label which showcased the multi-faceted nature of his music and saw him work with artistes as diverse as Caroline Crawley (singer from “This Mortal Coil” ) and Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails).
As a DJ Josh Wink has played extensively in every corner of the world including the Roxy, Prague back in 1997 which despite it being a Wednesday was packed with clubbers who were to witness him relentlessly attacking the equaliser during a driving set of filtered techno, dirty house and breakbeats. In February DJ Josh Wink is embarking on a mini-tour of Europe, the second date of which is right here in Prague at Holesovicka Trznice in the vast ball number 12 on Friday 12th February. Supporting Josh Wink on the decks are local superstars Loutka, Chris Sadler, Tvyks and Lumiere.
