RAY CHARLES Genius Loves Company

Ray Charles recorded his rnal piece of music for Genius Loves Company less than a few months before succumbing to liver disease. Perhaps realizing Genius would be his swan song, Charles produced a dynamic set of tracks that span his musical passions: blues, jazz, big band, gospel, country and pop. The CD also features duets with Elton John, Gladys Knight and Willie Nelson. In spite of his ill health, which limited his vocal range, album producer John Burk said Charles was a consummate pro and would often say, "I'm not feeling well today. I'll take a stab at it, and I can come back to it later.' But he never had to come to it later."
