Cypress Hill have come out with their latest release just in time to stay relevant. Sure, they pioneered hip hop and have even explored their hard rock side, but after all that, they’ve decided to entirely go back to their roots, well, somewhat. There’s still the nods to the Clash and a guest appearance by Rancid’s Tim Armstrong. Sadly, neither the hip hop or the rock were solid – this album needs work. It lacks the lyrical inspiration of their earlier work, with none of that real impact that makes you think, but it does have some noteworthy tracks. “Another Body Drops” contains the edge of that lovely Temples of Boom, and “Busted in the Hood” is a great remake of the Beastie’s “Paul Revere,” with B’s story working the beat just perfectly.
