THE CHECKERS Running with Scissors

Running with Scissors could possibly be the must-have album of 2006. The Checkers' second full-length album is a welcome addition to lovers of Joan Jett, Blondie, even the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The lyrics, the riffs, the girly persuasive voice of singer Julie Vox will make you clap your hands, stamp your feet, what have you. After listening to the opening "The Invitation," it's hard to take a break from this stunning album, and honestly, you won't be scouring the aisles at your record store to find another album, except maybe another copy of Running with Scissors when your own copy runs out.
