HERBERT Around The House

Matthew Herbert is the man of the hour and he's prolirc as well as able to get to those hard to scratch spots in the middle of your back, his sublime embrace of beat and melodies, multi-instrumentalism, and the feeling that all his music is done in his pajamas is all well represented here. Using a fretless flanged bass ala Mick Karn or drowning melodies under the flattest of French house beats imaginable for 10 minutes, the sound is always slightly indulgent, but just as jaunty. Or is that just European? Gets under your skin, but only slightly dance ready.
