It's mercifully concise, erasing the obvious failing of her second album, The Dead Horse, endless jangling, meandering lyrics and a general lack of substance. Under Rug Swept unloads the full compliment of Alanis' astute observations. Unsurprisingly, they are about venting her frustrations against men and their collective derciencies. And that grates, list after list of complaints, despite her general ability of the music to keep your attention. Old before her time.
