Dave started in music late 1979 with a Wasp synth bought with money left to him by his grandmother, he was soon playing bass and drums in small bands around his area. In the 80's Harrow moved to Berlin and worked with poet Anne Clark, these soon turned into Dave's first recordings, a primitive kind of techno/new beat, that earnt him the title of "Godfather of Techno", which he is still called in today's German music press (Anne Clark's greatest hits "remixed" was released in 1997 ... 40,000 sold).
H arrow's art backround and work in Germany landed him working with the legendary Genesis P'orridge and his Psychic TV project, this soon proved opressive, so Dave left, became a member of Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart, and then part of the On-U-Sound. Harrow spent five years with the On-U-Sound crew, writing African Headcharge, playing with Lee Perry and Gary Clail, and working extensively with Adrian Sherwood in the studio, an experience that set him up for his next project. Technova was created whilst on tour in Japan (with Sherwood), a techno project using influences from all avenues of the world's vast musicsal genres, ethnic rhythms and dub mayhem, all held together with a mass of technoid squelches and bleeps. In 1993 Harrow signed to Sabbrettes (Andy Weatherall's label) as Technova, after Andy saw live performances, which consisted of numerous tatooed andpierced bodies cavorting around on stage, playing with chainsaws and throwing fake blood over each other to the music. ? ![]() Fast forward to January 1996, two technova LP's and a collaboration with Weatherall as Blood Sugar, a hit with "Your Lovin' Arms" written for Billy Ray Martin... and James Hardway is born.?James Hardway is the alter ego for Mr. Harrow, a Jazz crazed Drum'n' Basseer with a tattooed body and pierced parts, an image gained from numerous parlour trips in Japan, Thailand and America, and research... Harrow spent time in New York checking out the Jazz Clubs, and the UK's growing Drum'n'Bass before returning to record the "Cool Jazz Mutha Fucker" EP and the "Deeper, Wider, Smoother, Shit" LP. James Hardway is now a great success worldwide, and presides over many a fantastic live show.
